Definition:
A term used in the grammatical classification of sentence types, and usually seen in contrast to imperative, subjunctive, etc., moods. It refers to verb forms or sentence/clause types used in the expression of statements and questions, e.g. the horse is walking. With reference to statements, the term ‘declarative’ may be used.
